I have always thought Tyler Perry films were way too over the top in stereotyping black life. "For Colored Girls" was no exception. Based on the 1975 play "For Colored Girls Who Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf" by Ntozake Shange, this movie touched on virtually every stereotype known in the black community. With the influence and resources Tyler Perry has I would like to encourage him to shed more light on positive black male and female roles.
