Weekend Dreaming

Huntington Beach

This weekend I will dutifully take my own advice and (weather permitting) head outdoors for some fresh air and sun. On the agenda is a hike, a little beach bumming, and a stop at the Farmer's Market to stock up on fresh, organic fruits and veggies. Happy weekend!

Back to Nature

Beauty off of the 101 Freeway

Living in or near the congestion of Los Angeles can make it hard to stop, breathe, and appreciate one's surroundings. Luckily, the beauty of nature is much closer than we often realize. With destinations such as Griffith Park, Temescal Canyon, or even a drive up the 101 freeway, your "escape" from LA is closer than you think.

Packaging Frenzy

If there is one certain about me, it is that I love giving gifts. I may even go as far as admitting that I enjoy the thrill of giving much more than receiving. I have only recently, however, gotten super into the packaging that goes along with it. There are so many creative ideas out there that I can not wait to try.

A few of my favorites from around the web:

So simple! Kraft paper with stamped neon dots.

White chalk on black kraft paper. Chic.

This can be done by recycling paper grocery bags. Love the yarn.

Love Notes

In this world of technology, expressing our feelings has become dull and limited. The days of the handwritten letter are far behind many of us. Instead of sending an email or text to your loved ones, why not send them a fun little note or letter in the post? Imagine the feeling of finding an unexpected piece of personal mail amongst all the bills and junk. A great company I like to use is Leafcutter Designs. They do amazing teeny-tiny letters and trinkets with fun, miniscule stamps that are sure to put a smile on anyone's face.

Current Obsession - Bar Carts

Love this one found on goldandgray.blogspot.com

I have been in my apartment for nearly a year now and have just (very) recently decided it is time to start decorating. It seems subscribing to tons of home magazines, bookmarking millions of inspirational blogs and developing an unhealthy addiction to Pinterest is not enough; I actually have to get out there and buy stuff. "Buying stuff" wouldn't normally be a problem, but for some strange reason, home goods slightly intimidate me. Naturally, my first order of business is the Bar Cart. I can not wait to head to the Melrose/Fairfax Flea Market on Sunday, coffee in one hand... and these pics in the other, to begin my search for the perfect cart to begin my bar!

Autumn Story

Although Southern California does a terrible job of showing it, the most wonderful season is upon us... Autumn! Being the stubborn Taurus that I am, I have decided to studiously ignore the sun and begin shopping for the necessary items to add to my fall wardrobe. I use the term "necessary" very loosely obviously. I have never quite been able to decipher the little issue of want over need...

My fall wish list:

The perfect trench.

Cozy sweaters + coordinating scarves.

Wear with everything suede boots.
